Dr. Liam Campbell  is an independent writer and scholar from Northern Ireland who is published both creatively and academically. Liam lectures in English Literature & Creative Writing for the North West Regional College in Ireland & the Ulster University. Liam is also Community Relations Officer with the Derry Playhouse, in this capacity his work foregrounds the power of storytelling as a multi-faceted tool for education, healing, and cultural outreach. Liam has devised and delivered creative writing programs of study - and has organised (and delivered papers at) international conferences on Storytelling. Liam was also a key author of a pedagogical methodology on Storytelling as part of a European Erasmus + project led by the University of Rome in partnership with 5 other European countries .

Academically, Liam is the author of The Ecological Augury in the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien (2011) and he has also contributed chapters to major critical works on Tolkien such as A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien (2014) & Middle-earth and Beyond: Essays on the World of J. R. R. Tolkien (2010). He has given many talks across Europe and America on the literature of the 20th Century, the Irish Gothic, Tolkien, landscapes and eco-criticism. Liam’s research is also very active in relation to Irish mythology; he gave the 2014 Christmas lecture to the Irish Mythic Links Society in Dublin.

Liam's creative work to date covers drama, short stories, and poetry, and lyrics. He is currently finalizing his debut short story collection, and his new play The Bog Couple is in production - creatively Liam has had short stories and poems published in various anthologies. Liam is also vocalist and lyricist with Irish band Dead Heroes Club (click band name for Facebook site and HERE for band site, and to buy music.)
